In 2025, the Peabody Essex Museum selected Saulnier Floors to replace the floor of East India Marine Hall, one of the oldest museum spaces in the country. We supplied and installed 4,500 square feet of French sawn, prime grade European oak, finished in our Bay Collection penetrating oil and blended to a custom color.
Penetrating oil was chosen with the next two centuries in mind. It allows the floor to be re-oiled and restored in place, preserving its character without ever sanding it back again.
It is the same finish system we installed in a family room in Marblehead the year before. For over 70 years our work has been, first and foremost, in New England homes. The care we bring to a museum hall is the same care we bring to a living room, a staircase, or a single worn entryway.
